Speech-Language Pathologist – Part Time


PREP is well known for its success in supporting families and children with Down syndrome, and we take pride in our role as an advocate for inclusion for over 34 years. Our therapists educate parents, health care professionals, and educators about best practices for communication skill development and identify measurable, achievable goals that motivate parents and professionals to work together to help each child realize his or her full potential.

PREP currently has a part-time opening (17-21 hrs/week) for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multi-disciplinary team and make a real difference in the lives of children with Down syndrome. This unique opportunity will provide a range of experiences to develop your skills as an SLP and allow you to share your expertise as you work alongside families, staff, educators, and other professionals. We are currently looking for someone to provide support for our children in grades 1-6 with their FSCD contracts as well as provide some speech consultation to our Teen Program team. While there is some flexibility in hours, our current need is for Wednesday and Fridays afternoons (12:00-5:30pm) with other days/times to be determined based on your availability and the needs of our members. It is also important to us that you have an opportunity to connect with our multidisciplinary team, so some availability will be required to attend onsite meetings on Wednesdays.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Creation and monitoring of speech-language goals and strategies
  • Provision of individual, family-centered therapy
  • Communication with parents, therapists, and other support team members

Professional Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university
  • Registration in the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologist (ACSLPA)

Additional Experience:

  • Experience with FSCD contracts considered an asset

Child Development Facilitator (CDF)


Inclusion in Action – Be part of the team!

Child Development Facilitators (CDF’s) are needed to provide support to young children with Down syndrome within our PREP classroom, the child’s community preschool classroom, and/or home environment. The PREP Society provides supervision, program planning, and therapist support to enable you to confidently implement an Individual Program Plan. The benefits are enormous to families and you will enjoy contributing to a child reaching their maximum potential.

The positions are part – time with hours ranging from 8:45am – 6pm Monday – Friday.

Additional FSCD hours are available working with children and families within their home depending on scheduling restrictions and family availability.

The positions will start September 2022 and go until June 2023.

All applicants must have a reliable vehicle. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, oral and written. Strong interpersonal skills are an asset, as each CDF is expected to be a confident, contributing member of the ECS team. A police check is required prior to start date and first aid is considered an asset.

The position is a good fit for individuals with relevant work experience or for university students who have flexibility in their school schedule. Only candidates with relevant educational background will be considered (e.g. education, child development, psychology, disability studies, social work). This position is excellent experience for those considering a career in teaching, SLP, OT, PT, Psychology or other therapies.
