Program Description

PREP provides a high quality Early Childhood Services (ECS) program to PUF eligible children in Calgary for over 33 years. Our goal at PREP is to provide an enriched learning environment with therapy services tailored to meet each individual child’s unique needs as they prepare for a successful transition into Kindergarten and beyond. Our program prides itself on:

  • Administering the Program Unit Funding (PUF) grant for families who have an eligible child
  • Small class sizes
  • Large, bright classrooms with excellent resources
  • Certified teacher with aide support leading the program
  • Therapeutic support within the classrooms include:  Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Behaviour Therapist
  • Parent education and involvement
  • Community preschool placement options

At PREP, we think that play is the best way for kids to learn. Play with purpose is our motto! Each child will have the chance to work on their therapeutic goals while engaging in classroom-based activities with the assistance of our multidisciplinary therapy team, which consists of a Speech-Language Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist, Therapy Assistants, a Physiotherapist, and a Behaviour Therapist. To ensure collaboration between parents, school, and home, our staff will communicate with parents on a daily basis.

Eligibility

Program Unit Funding (PUF) is provided to school authorities for ECS children with severe disabilities/delays who require additional support beyond what is offered  in a regular ECS program. PREP’s ECS program is offered for 2 consecutive years starting when the child is 2 years and 8 months old by September 1, and who have been identified with a severe disability/delay.
